Mukkaround & Costa Rebel Reignite Dancehall Energy with “Hypnotized”

California-based reggae artist Mukkaround and Costa Rican producer Costa Rebel join forces on “Hypnotized”, a bold, high-energy dancehall release inspired by one of the genre’s early 2000s classics.

The single draws creative influence from the legendary Martial Arts Riddim, originally produced in 2002 by dancehall icon Cordell Burrell under the renowned Jamaican label King Of Kings. Rather than recreating it directly, Costa Rebel reimagined its rhythmic essence with a modern 2026 sonic approach — Updated drum textures, contemporary synth sounds and expanded stereo depth.

From Instagram Reel to International Collaboration

Months before the release, Costa Rebel posted a social media reel demonstrating how to recreate the classic riddim structure. Mukkaround — a young conscious reggae artist from California — encountered the video and was immediately drawn to the sound. Despite being deeply rooted in reggae, he had never previously explored this particular dancehall riddim.

What began as admiration quickly evolved into collaboration.

Using Zoom, Costa Rebel produced the riddim from his studio in Costa Rica while Mukkaround contributed ideas from California. Once the instrumental direction was finalized, Mukkaround recorded his vocals in his home studio and sent the stems to Costa Rebel for full vocal production, editing, mixing, and mastering.

The result is “Hypnotized” — a track that captures the magnetic pull of rhythm and bass, built for movement and impact.
